Their new brand, Brocade Home, was established in 2006 and is now offered only on-line and through catalog. The idea for Restoration Hardware was formed in 1979 when the founder Stephen Gordon began restoring his Queen Anne style house in California.
He found locating authentic period hardware difficult so he started a store in his home. The company is not connected with any other home furnishing brands and only markets its own products.
